Mission
Since its inception, in 1988, the Society for Health Education (SHE) continues to explore options and means to enhance the quality of life of Maldivian families. The organization reaffirms its commitment to sustain these initiatives, and to further increasing public awareness on issues that influence family well-being. Effectiveness of health promotion initiatives will be ensured by adopting applicable service delivery mechanisms, fostering improvements in reproductive health parameters, continuing thalassaemia prevention activities, promoting responsible parenthood concepts, facilitating empowerment of women and youth, supporting victims of abuse, extending counseling to adolescent and families, and encouraging community ownership of development.
Society for Health Education believes in and strives for promotion of health through universal awareness among the people. As individuals, as families and as a community, everyone at every level has a right for good health and a responsibility to maintain a health life. We believe in and target at attaining sustainable good health for the people of our nation through awareness and self-reliance among the communities.
Our foundation laid on this belief, the Society embraces the following mandate:
Strive to improve the quality of life of Maldivian people through awareness as self-reliance
Harness the expertise of national professionals, on the voluntary basis, for development programmes.
Endeavour to raise awareness on health and social issues
